What Claude does
Claude is a conversational AI assistant built to help with long-form writing, deep analysis, planning, coding, and careful reasoning across large amounts of context.
How Claude works
You give Claude instructions, questions, files, or examples in natural language. It interprets the context, reasons through the task, and produces a response you can refine through conversation.
Build the working context
Start with the goal, audience, constraints, and source material. Claude can use pasted text, uploaded files, project instructions, and the conversation history; the quality of that context determines what it can reason about reliably.
Turn the request into a plan
Claude interprets the instructions, identifies relevant evidence, and works through the task. For complex work, ask it to state assumptions, propose an outline, or compare approaches before producing the final deliverable.
Generate the requested artifact
It produces prose, analysis, code, tables, summaries, or a structured plan in the requested format. Continue in the same conversation to preserve context while revising a specific section or testing an alternative.
Verify and refine
Check factual claims, calculations, citations, and high-stakes advice against authoritative sources. Give targeted feedback—what is wrong, what must stay, and what success looks like—rather than asking it to simply ‘make it better.’
